Recreation
Recreational opportunities abound in Corinth, Alcorn County, and the surrounding area. State and regional parks, historic sites, trails, golf courses, wildlife areas, and a sportsplex provide opportunities for outdoor activities. The sportsplex plus an arena, interpretive center, bowling center, and skating rink also provide indoor alternatives.
Historic Sites and Museums
Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center
Operated by the National Park Service as part of the Shiloh National Military Park, the $9.5-million Civil War Interpretive Center is located in Corinth. The center provides insights into the pivotal role that Corinth played in the Civil War and allows visitors to explore six major aspects of civil war history through exhibits and programs:
- The role of the railroad
- The role of earthworks and fortifications
- The African-American experience
- Corinth as a military learning ground
- The Shiloh-Corinth corridor
- America before and after the Civil War

Local Parks and Trails
The Corinth Hiking and Biking Trail begins at Trailhead Park in downtown Corinth and winds through Civil War sites, historic homes, and other points of interest. Trailhead Park amenities include public restrooms, an entertainment and lecture platform, and interpretive exhibits.
Crossroads Regional Park, southeast of downtown Corinth, offers 38 acres of opportunities for outdoor recreation. Facilities include a 1-mile paved walking or jogging trail, a soccer field, 10 tennis courts, 6 fields for baseball or softball, and 3 picnic pavilions. A major attraction is the Crossroads Fun Station megaplayground.
E. S. Bishop Park, covering 7 acres on South Johns Street in Corinth, includes basketball courts, a field for baseball or softball, a playground, and a picnic pavilion.
State Parks and Wildlife Areas
Pickwick Landing State Park just across the state line in Tennessee provides outstanding opportunities for water-based recreation on Lake Pickwick and the Tennessee River. The park includes an inn and conference center with five meeting rooms, 119 guest rooms, a restaurant, swimming pools, and tennis courts. Also available are 10 cabins and 48 camping sites with hookups as well as areas for primitive camping. A full-service marina and three public launch ramps are available to the public. An 18-hole golf course rounds out the amenities of this ideal weekend retreat and meeting location.
J.P. Coleman State Park is also located along the banks of Pickwick Lake in Mississippi just a few miles south of the Tennessee state line. It is an excellent site for swimming, sailing, water skiing, fishing, and camping. It offers a full-service marina, an inn and cabin rentals for overnight guests, 75 developed camping sites and 19 primitive tent sites plus a swimming pool and miniature golf.
Tishomingo State Park in neighboring Tishomingo County, Mississippi, is about a 40-mile drive from Corinth. The park is renowned for its natural beauty characterized by massive rock formations. The scenic Natchez Trace Parkway runs directly through it. The park offers a 13-mile nature trail system, rock climbing, a swinging bridge, a swimming pool, and a multipurpose sports field. Lodging options include six cabins, a group camp for up to 108 campers, and primitive group huts, tent camping sites, and camping pads.
Tombigbee State Park on a small lake just east of Tupelo is about 60 miles south of Corinth. For groups, there is a lodge with meeting room that can accommodate up to 100, plus a lakeside group camp for up to 200 with a separate meeting room. The park also offers 7 waterfront cabins, 20 improved camping pads, 3 nature trails, a disc golf facility, and a tennis court.
Tuscumbia Wildlife Management Area, about 3 miles west northwest of Corinth, is a state-owned facility of 2,600 acres dedicated primarily to wetlands and water impoundments for waterfowl. Limited hunting of waterfowl as well as deer and rabbits is permitted. Access to the Tuscumbia River provides fishing opportunities. Birding enthusiasts will find excellent opportunities for observing both marsh birds and songbirds in the differing habitats throughout the area.
Golf Courses
Golfers enjoy easy access to six excellent golf courses, three in or near Corinth and three a short drive away.
Corinth and Alcorn County
Hillandale Country Club on Oakland School Road is a semiprivate facility with an 18-hole course and a pro shop. Also available are tennis courts, a swimming pool, a banquet room, and a ballroom. It is open to nonmembers on weekdays.
Shiloh Ridge Athletic Club at 3303 Shiloh Ridge Road is semiprivate. It features an 18-hole course, three golf simulators, and a pro shop. It also offers four Rubico tennis courts, a restaurant, banquet room, swimming pool, fitness center, and sauna.
Whispering Pines Golf Course on county road 617, a 20-minute drive southwest from Corinth, is near the town of Kossuth. It is a nine-hole course with Bermuda greens.
Region
Shiloh Falls Golf Course near Counce, Tennessee, and Pickwick Lake is about 30 minutes north of Corinth. The 18-hole, par 72 course was designed by U.S. Open Champion Jerry Pate and Fred Couples. It is reputed to be one of the best courses in the area. Features include a driving range, practice green, and club rental.
Shiloh Golf Course at the Adamsville (Tennessee) Recreation Area is a 45-minute drive from Corinth and features an 18-hole, par 71 course. Other facilities include a driving range and golf shop.
Pickwick Landing Golf Course in Pickwick Landing State Park is a 35-minute drive from Corinth. It is an 18-hole, par 72 course complemented by a driving range and golf shop. Club rentals are available.
Sports and Recreation Facilities
The Corinth Sportsplex provides facilities for both indoor and outdoor athletic activities, including aerobics, gymnastics, weight training, karate, swimming, basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, and soccer. A playground is an attractive option for younger children. Sportsplex memberships are available to the public.
The Crossroads Arena boasts Mississippi’s largest arena floor, measuring 150 by 300 feet, and provides seating for up to 9,000. It is available for a wide range of events from conventions to concerts, trade shows, rodeos, and other specialty events. Outside, motorcoach parking and RV hookups are available for overnight guests. Adjacent to the arena is the Crossroads Convention Center, offering 5,000 square feet of space for banquets, presentations, and theatrical performances with seating for up to 600, depending on the type of event. The Arena’s annual schedule typically includes a wide range of entertainment events.
Plaza Lanes is a 16-lane bowling center with automatic scoring plus video games, pool tables, and a refreshments area.
Skateworld of Corinth offers roller skating plus arcade games and concessions.
Festivals and Events
There’s always something interesting going on in Corinth. Each year, Main Street Corinth and partner organizations plan a series of family-oriented activities that offer something for almost everyone.
